Flashback: Eric’s old journal 10JUL02
*sigh* Nice… I had an almost undisturbed sleep with Eric last night. It’s just so wonderful when he does get an undisturbed night’s sleep, and wakes up happy and dandy.
Highlight of the day: He is quite an expressive baby. He helds out his hands and gives out a hoot, a signal that he wants to be carried. His calls for “mama” and “dada” is much more audible, and I think he now can relate those words to us. “Mama!”, holds out arms to me. “Dada!” holds out arms to my hubby. It’s easier now to tell whether he’s happy, or hungry, or sleepy, or wanting to go out, or wanting to watch TechTV… ahh, he is so like his momma and poppa.
Oh, did I mention how cute his fangs are? ![]()

The best big brother in the world
“Eric, see what Joel’s doing…”
“Eric, clean your room…”
“Eric, go play with Joel…”
“Eric, help me take Ezra’s diaper please…”
“Eric, help me hold Ezra’s bottle, I need to do the dishes…”
“Eric, please do the laundry…”
Believe it or not, these are the things I asked Eric to help me with around the house. I certainly appreciate all that this big kid of mine does around the house. He’s even more helpful than his dad. To my delight, he especially loves doing the laundry — well, up to the washing part, that is. He asked me one day whether he could help me to wash clothes, and I thought why not. It took him five rounds of laundry to understand where and how to do it.
Always eager to help me with that particular house chore, he would carry a load of dirty clothes and stuff them into the washing machine, and press those nifty buttons that buzz, and as the machine loads up with water, he would pour the detergent and softener to the right amount into the right compartments. His reward would be the chance to observe those clothes splish-sploshing their way through the wash cycle. That’s as far as I let him help with the washing.
I think about how much Eric has helped me around the house, and I realized that I wouldn’t be able to do half of the housework if it weren’t for his help. This precious son of mine is my very own little handy helper, God bless him.

His mood is getting better now. I just wished that his cold gets better soon. It worsens his coughing… I worry sometimes.
Highlight of the day: Oo, his two top “fang” teeth are starting to show! He now has 5 teeth growing out simultaneously. About time, I say.

Eric’s 7th birthday on 20.08.2008

This has got to be Eric’s best birthday yet. Not only does it coincide with one of the most interesting dates of this year (20082008), but he also got a yummy and specially requested choc moist Spongebob Squarepants where he gets to share with his favourite cousins, Aishah and Aidyl. Thanks to his Nenek Carol for the great cake!
It was a last minute plan to have Eric’s birthday in Tuaran instead of at our apartment, but since Eric was already spending a few nights there, I thought, why not. I didn’t plan on getting anything else other than the cake to celebrate it (being the lazy mom I am), but Eric’s Nenek Tuaran (me mom) took care of the food and drinks, by whipping up a quick serving of laksa Sarawak, noodles, chicken soup, and french fries with some soda and soft drinks. Those were more than adequate to whet everyone’s appetite.
Eric’s present? Well, he didn’t get any, and it’s something that I made very clear a few weeks back. The reason? I’d rather keep that story for another day.
In any case, today’s definitely a great day to celebrate being a year older! Happy Birthday, Eric!

Free at last
On 5th of July, my home was now free of my brothers-in-law after almost 10 years of living with us, and now Eric finally has his own bedroom today! And, boy, he’s loving it!
Although my in-laws left our home early in the morning, and the room was now empty for me to do as I wish, I couldn’t yet rejoice because I needed to clean the room up before Eric could move in. Cobwebs and dust stuck on the walls and scattered on the floor was the first sight that I saw when I entered the room. Amazingly, I got everything cleaned up in just half hour. Which was good, because time is so precious when you have two little tykes to deal with simultaneously. I was glad Eric was eager to do the rest of the work, i.e. moving his clothes and toys from the office room to his now official room, while I dealt with the wailing Ezra and Joel.
The final touch to the room was the setting up of Eric’s PC, and this was the most exciting to Eric. Now he can play and shout around frantically as he played with the various PC and online games he’s into (Spongebob Squarepants, Playhouse Disney Channel, Mario Bros, etc), and the living room now sounds less noisy. Even Joel is enjoying himself as he watches his big bro play on the computer.
I’ve been looking forward to Eric having his own room for a long time, especially now that he is in Primary 1. Not having his own room meant that he had to do his homework in the living room. And since the office room is currently a makeshift baby room, Eric has no privacy when it comes to reading or doing his school work, with the TV on, or his little brother Joel keep pulling him away or climbing on Eric’s chair insisting that his big brother play with him. I’m glad that now with his own room, most distraction have been eliminated and Eric can now focus better on his studies.
